About Us

I’m a long time value investor, with an interest in investing. Not just the share market, but property, businesses and any other asset that might provide an income. I run my own superfund (which has outperformed the ASX 200 Accumulation index by 17% since inception in May 2008). I also have my own share portfolio, and one investment property so far. I’ve got a Graduate Certificate in Financial Planning and a graduate Diploma in Applied Finance and Investment from Finsia. I do my own analysis of stocks and property to buy, and build models for each company that I’m thinking of investing in.

This is a message for Surfing Mike.

    Hi Mike,
I read your excellent posting on aj lucas. Since then, things have moved on. A refinancing package is on the table, and will most likely be accepted. Most promissing is the venture they participate in in Europe. Carrot on a stick or the pot of gold; in any way a positive impulse to the share price.

But, this is only one topic. Please follow the discussion on hotcopper regarding this company. It shows suspect actions regarding previous asset purchases. I refer to Trinity issue, monument prospect.

Would be happy to see your opinion on this.

    kind regards

      Thanks for the comment,

I have such a low opinion of this company, I’m not at all surprised there’s talk about dodgy deals. Until there’s significant management change its definitely not a company that I’ll be buying into. When directors and executives give themselves massive bonuses for selling parts of the business (as they did in 2009), that’s one sign of a company to avoid.

  2. Mike, just stumbled upon your blog. Always great to read what other value investors are thinking even if they are in a field that is geographically speaking out of my circle of competence and comfort. Keep it up and greetings from Switzerland.

    Hi Mike,

I’m a huge fan of your blogs, I’ve learnt so much from them and reading them is a daily routine for me.

I’ve come across a question and I have been trying to figure out the answer for the last 2 days without sleep. I read you are familiar with Roger Montgomerys techniques so I am messaging you as a last resort to try and figure out the question I have.

On this video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Nc8rTFNqyww at 4:30 Roger talks about the Growth Multiplier table, I am trying to figure out how Roger has filled this table with those multiplier values…Example: under 8% and next to 5% it says 0.429, how has Roger found this value and all the other values that exist on that table.

I hope you can give me some insight or point me in the right direction to finding the answer to this. It would be very kind of you and might end my insomnia.

    Many thanks
